"Lilly"
From childhood to middle-age, my husband and I have always
had dogs in our
lives. We’ve also
employed several trainers for our young dogs and we can’t say enough about
Jennifer and the way she handled our dog using positive methods.
We employed Jennifer to work with Lily, our second
Portuguese Water dog. PWD’a are not an easy breed to handle, so with Jennifer’s
impressive dog background and knowledge besides her experiences handling and
showing a working class breed she was the first trainer we contacted.
From the first time watching Jennifer with Lily, we knew we
we’re lucky as Lily fell in love with her while performing the desired tasks or
behaviors. Lily has maintained her
learned behaviors since Jennifer’s training ended several months ago but we would
like to continue with Jennifer working on outdoor skills in the spring.
Jennifer is the only dog trainer we’ve recommended in the Stark County
area.

"Roan"
Hello Jennifer!
After a few weeks of failed attempts at making Roan feel more comfortable in his crate (We were also changing up our routines, sitting around in our coats, leaving and coming back... the whole gambit of tricks), we decided to take your second suggestion - to try leaving him gated in the kitchen.
This has worked perfectly! It has been 100% successful. He does not make a peep when we leave and even seems happy and comfortable when we give him his peanut butter kong and walk out the door! It's unbelievable how things have changed - we figured out, as you suggested, that the crate may have just been a trigger and he was trying to escape it because he didn't know how long he would be left inside. We leave the crate in the kitchen along with his new bed and sometimes we will arrive home to see him lying inside of the crate - I guess he doesn't mind the crate when the door is open!
Thank you so much for your help, I'll probably be contacting you in the spring to ask your expertise on getting Roan involved in some kind of task-oriented program.
Thank you again!

"Niki"

Niki was going on 9 months old when I called Jennifer. I was at my wits end. I did not know what I had gotten myself into with my very destructive, very noisy, very hyper, and sometimes down right obstinate German Shepherd. I didn’t fully understand my puppy’s behavior and beyond that, I had no idea what to do about changing it. I only knew that I needed help before I ended up with an unmanageable adult dog. And, I knew that I wanted help in Niki’s environment, at home, while on walks, etc.
Jennifer not only helped me understand Niki’s particular behavior, but how to gently correct it. Jennifer took the time and had the patience to help me understand that, essentially, what I had on my hands was a very intelligent out of work working dog suffering from separation anxiety.
A happy, healthy pet is one of life’s greatest joys. It has been such a pleasure the past several months enjoying Niki as she matures. But the most satisfying moments are the ones when I suddenly realize that Niki did exactly as she was told!

"Sammy"

April 2, 2009
Dear Jennifer:
I wanted to thank you for everything you’ve done for us and for Sammy. I’ve told numerous people
the things you’ve taught us about dealing with dogs. I particularly think it’s interesting that what you do is train the “owners”. I never realized how little I knew about dogs.
I also did not realize that it takes time, patience and work on our part. With a little persistence, though, every thing you taught us works, for example, walking him, playing with him, teaching him commands, modifying his behavior and understanding his reaction to things.
Your knowledge and abilities with dogs is incredible. You are calm but firm and command immediate respect from them. Even when you have not dealt with an exact situation, your instincts carry you through and bring you to the correct response. We love Sammy so much but before you began helping us, he was misbehaving and destroying so many things that I thought my husband would make me get rid of him. Now, he’s such a good boy and so well behaved that even the kennel said “he behaves so well, they hardly know he’s there”.
Please feel free to share this letter as an endorsement of you and your abilities. Anyone who is serious about their pet and his/her well being would be lucky to have you help them.
Thank you,
Linda P.
